WHOOPS! I accidentally deleted our old blog and had to create another one. Use the comments hyperlink below to start sharing ideas for our film for Black History Month!
We're going to do a News Broadcast thing right? Well thats a good idea. We can do commercials for products and all that, but as far as that superhero idea: Let's not try and open a pandora's box by making Obama a superhero. A lot of people don't like him (Including me) And it wouldn't be a good idea to offend people that way...I do have an idea though of how to get around that. We could have the President (of course Obama now) call a superhero to help, who is black. What could his name be? I'm not sure, I haven't come up with that yet...And the other thing is who we could get. I came up with one awhile back from Physics Class, but I'm not sure if he would be the type of superhero to use. Just post your ideas here.
I have no topic to reserach yet but I wanted to comment in order to express my immense enthusiam for communication through technology...and because you emailed us to.
Well ideas have come to mind in a day and I want to keep with what we discussed in the meeting. But another thing is that what was said about Obama. Well he is a hero to a lot of races. You don’t have to agree with his ideas but you can accept the fact that he broke the boundaries for any race can be president. Not just white. (Not offending anyone) he changed lives around the U.S. and made a lot of people proud to be an American. But we can do interviews with the students about famous black people. And see what their opinions on how the contributed to the American society and how does it effect the lives of daily Americans. But that’s just a few ideas. And I would want to know if we can do the interviews or field reports in the morning when there is a lot of students on the school campus. And then we do the news casting part after school. Now I thing that all we have to do is work out is the time and stuff like that. So I hope that my ideas were good ones.
Of course we're going to interview people, its a news brodcast. You couldn't have one without it. But we have to think what will we do in it, and what will be the "commercials" in it.
Brandon, let's please be aware of tone when discussing ideas. The whole concept of collaboration depends on a free exchange of ideas, with trust on all sides of the collaboration. Reiterating points in condenscendion is neither helpful, nor respectful. The ideas EVERYONE put down here are excellent. I think we need to create committees at the next meeting to determine who will be working on commercials, interviews, the fake movie trailers, and the news portion. Please bring to the meeting a list of all names of those that will be participating and I will begin to coordinate times for shooting. If we need to snag some people out of class I am going to need to know beforehand so that I can email their teachers. Please keep the exchange going here.
I'm not sure if we were aiming for a humorous broadcast or serious or what type of suggestions you are looking for but here are some brief ideas, that apply to light humor:
To compensate for the lack of quality, it might be a reasonable idea to style our newscast like a educational children's clip. Keeping the basics in mind, the topics covered can be specific and easy to understand. That way if the humor tanked, it would still be funny and informative to watch. It also puts less stress in the seriousness while still obtaining quality shots.
Another idea would to create conceits (or whatever you shall call them) so that we can create inside jokes with the audience. For example, we could have a 'reporter' constantly tracking and spotting obama, but the camera never captures him fully...
A lot of people will recall the multiple TV's in the cafeteria for the inaguration. We could blow the 'historical site' out of proportion and do a few report's from there. ^And I think it is important to use the election in our news cast because we should emphasize that we all have witnessed, first hand, a significant part of black history.
+ We could interveiw informed persons about their role models in the present; and they could give an example as to why this person exemplifies a role model. It could be their mother or something but their explanation should be credible.
+ The commercials could be a miniseries. Some shows have tiny 2 minute "shows" that fill the air time and entertain. It could be comedic, just in case the reports become heavy, in a figurative sense of course. They could deal with something complex like history or something as simple as students asking questions in a classroom and having them answered. (Documentary).
+ Lastly, we could interveiw adults about how far they think the United has come in terms of society and culture.
+ I am fresh out of ideas. Actually my brain is throbbing from thought exhasution. hehe! I hope the latter either sparks ideas or aids the club!
I have done some research about some inventions by black and people and I thought that we can do a skit where we show people what it would be like if these inventors never thought to make some of the contributions to society where would we be as in music, technology, food, and culture.
One member I did not include in my list earlier is Brandon...he will be reporting on sports... I was thinking that we should all have random nik names when we are introducing ourselves. It could be pulled off. My favorite idea for a commercial is COSBY VS. URKEL!!!! We could have Ryan Brown as Bill Cosby and Jared Brown as Steve Urkel, i think this would defiantly bring laughter points. a few more ideas for commercials would be inventions made by Black People (I’m not sure how to put that in a political terms, but it's ok cause I’m part black anyway....anyway a few inventions would be air conditioner, cellular phone, door knob and door stop, dust pan, elevator...for more just go to this website. http://creativebrother.freehosting.net/invent.html
